Haikus for the Rodent in My Yard

Tiny hand snuck under
the door and was creepy; it
snatched up stray dog food.

It lived in a hole
my dog couldn't penetrate
much to her sadness.

I really hope it
wasn't carrying any
contagious disease.

It's not some kind of
metaphor; it really
existed. But now

it might be gone, or
just much better at being
inconspicuous.
