Alexie propagates the same sort of stereotype he purports to disassemble. Dan Savage is epic. Thus we may capitalize "Front" for emphasis. All things Savage are hereby proper. My amigo Shelly has Skipping to Gomorrah, but I have not as yet pried it from her shelves.
Is Alexie flawed? Yes. That's why I like him. His writing is revealing of his social discomfort (that maybe comes from being too keenly aware of social interactions), confusion, ironic humor, and hypocrisy. We all have those things. But it's hard to write about them in a compelling way. My favorite thing that he's written is his series of poems about why his relationship with a white woman couldn't work. Or maybe the new book, the part about the terrorist Arab friend?
And Skipping to Gomorrah is the funnest! Pry immediately. What are your favorite deadly sins? Mine are lust, sloth, and gluttony.
